B i o g r a p h y

Anja Popovic was born in 1989, started playing violin at age of eight in “Josip Slavenski” music school in Belgrade with Professor Lidija Rankovic.

She continued studies on Academy of Arts in Novi Sad with Professor Irina Jashvili.

2013 finished her master studies on Faculty of Music in Belgrade with tutor Gordana Matijevic. 

She has also worked with famous violinists and pedagogues such as Stefan Milenkovich professor on Juillard School of Music (New York, USA), Vladimir Vladigerov (Bulgaria), Dejan Mihailovic (Serbia).

Since 2000-2008 she has won many state competitions, festivals and recorded for Serbian National Television.

Most important awards are:

 

 

1st prize on international competition Alexandar Glazunov in Paris (France)

Special prize on international competition Stefan Milenkovich in Brentonico (Italia)

 

 

She had numerous concerts in Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad, Dunav Art festival, Belgrade Kolarac concert Hall, in galleries, National theatre in Belgrade and many museums in Belgrade.

2006 performed “Requiem” W.A. Mozart with Symphony orchestra

As a member of „Liebe und Arbeit orchestra“ performed in multimedia project „Musical hologram Nikola Tesla“ .

As a member of Baroque ensamble she had concerts in Florence (Italy) and has  expirienced sophisticated sound and technique playing on unique baroque instruments. 

Since 2008 is a member of chamber string orchestra Orpheus in Belgrade.

2012 collaborated in projects of National radio orchestra in Belgrade.

 

 International experience in Symphony orchestras        chamber music

 

In 2007 as a member of Central Europe Youth Orchestra she had successful concerts in Austria, Italia, Slovenia, Slovakia and Romania.

From 2010-2011 has worked in Bayreuth Symphony Orchestra (Germany) with famous conductor Patrick Lange (Germany).

In 2011 she gained experience performing pieces from famous cycle of operas by Richard Wagner “Der Ring des Nibelungen” with tutor from Deutche Oper Berlin (Germany) Reinhold Wolf.

She worked in chamber music projects with tutor from Deutche Oper Berlin Daniel Draganov (Berlin, Germany) and recorded for Radio Bayreuth.

2012 worked in symphony project of Cyprus Symphony Youth Orchestra (Larnaca, Cyprus).

 

Teaching experience

As a truly experienced and dedicated violinist, she works in music schools in Belgrade and Ub as a guest teacher with talented children and students. Her students have remarkable performing on concerts and competitions.

 

Composing

Anja is also a composer. She has written several classical pieces, currently composing quartet and opera, though actively arranging and composing for Felix Art String Quartet where she plays the first violin.
